We, the Storytellers, taught by Rabbi Scott Goldberg
Both Torah and rabbinic literature are rich with legends that address some of the most important issues in life. These texts are a primary reason why talmud Torah, the study of Torah, exists as a central tenet within Judaism, and that the Jewish people are referred to as "the People of the Book." However, these legends fail to describe the stories of our own personal relationships, questions, and challenges. That’s where storytelling matters. That’s where we matter.
We, the Storytellers is a five-part series facilitated by Rabbi Scott Goldberg on the fourth Thursday of every month at 12pm from January through May 2024. The goal of the series is multi-fold: to explore how central narratives of Torah and rabbinic literature have been read, transmitted, translated, and interpreted across time and cultures; and to write and share personal stories so we can further deepen our understanding of Judaism, one another, and ourselves. At the conclusion of the course, individuals will have studied several legends in Jewish tradition, engaged in personal thought and writing, and, perhaps most importantly, built relationships with one another.
